Lawn overseeding is a technique of sprinkling new seeds over the top of your existing grass. As your grass starts to mature, the regeneration of new grass blades starts to decrease. Also, in this damaged state, your lawn is more susceptible to weeds, and sooner or later, the weeds will begin to take control of your yard.
If you do not follow the practice of overseeding, you may end up with a lawn that does not look quite as good as a couple of years ago.
